Just started Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It feels good to be reading something that isn’t A Song Of Ice And Fire (The series that Game Of Thrones is based off of) or The Dark Tower series. Oh or Melville.
For the past… 7 Months that’s all I’ve been reading. Don’t think I’m saying these books are bad, with a few exceptions, mostly from the Melville books I had to read for school, They’re all really good, amazing even. It’s a nice breath of fresh air, something that doesn’t involve crazy science-magic crossovers, or dragons, or the fucking ocean.
So far the book is about Angels and Demons(no, not you Dan Brown). In the 11 years leading up to what is expected to be the end of the world. The book is very lighthearted and incredibly comical. One of my favorite little bits of humor included in the story thus far is that the M25 orbital motorway was altered mid-construction by a progressive, 20th century demon to form a the “sigil odegra in the langauge of the Black Priest hood of Ancient Mu, and Means ’ Hail the Great Beast, Devourer of Worlds” The demon who was responsible for this, the protagonist as far as I can tell, received a commendation for his work. Some nice, black(demonic) humor
With the exception of ” I, Cthulhu” I’ve never read Gaiman or Pratchett but so far I’m loving their collaborative style, reminds me a lot of Palahniuk. So if there are any Palahniuk fans among my followers, which I’m sure there are I’d definitely recommend picking up this book or one of their other works.
